ABOUT

Gems of a Feather began it's journey in the fall of 2016 with the desire to provide turquoise, variscites, and other stones at the upmost quality one can find. What started as a helping hand to a friend has evolved into a cherished passion where I can take a vision of creativity and share it with anyone and everyone.

I source my stone from various small miners and lapidaries, with an ethically centered consciousness when considering what is chosen. Small-batch lapidary of cabochons cut in-house are also offered when rough material of proper quality is available. The cabochons and beads are each carefully curated - as in - each and an every stone and strand available were chosen as if I were to use them myself in my own jewelry making. I strive to present each item as clearly and accurately in the product photography and descriptions.

I'd had a love for gemstones ever since I was a child, digging for crystals in the northeast where I am from. I have a childhood friend whose birthstone is Turquoise and many of my gifts in our lifetime included turquoise jewelry. Once I relocated to the southwest over 15 years ago, I began to learn more about the stone; from color, shape, matrix type, quality, rarity, and so forth. I haven't turned back since.

I always had a knack for crafting things and gained a particular interest in metalsmithing around the same time Gems of a Feather came to be. So with every item there is a vision, and sometimes the vision is so inspiring it was meant to stay to express my own creative flair outside of my mind. Otherwise, the ultimate goal is to provide beautiful things that inspire the creativity of other makers. It takes so much to bring this beautiful rock from the earth into your hands, so I hope you feel my fervent desire of quality in every item.

Thank you for being a part of this journey - with me!
